DIRECTOR:

NINO MANCUSO (He/Him)

Nino Mancuso is a director/writer/producer based in LA. His short film I KNOW JAKE GYLLENHAAL IS GOING TO FUCK MY GIRLFRIEND has received widespread acclaim in a number of high-profile festivals, including Hollyshorts, Flickerfest (AUS), and Austin Film Festival. His web series starring Jane Lynch on Amazon Prime, DROPPING THE SOAP, won an Emmy in 2017 for Best Actress in a Short Format Comedy. Nino has just finished producing the feature film GREY ELEPHANT starring Jill Flint, Brendan Fehrand and Eoin Macken. This is his second collaboration as Director alongside Helen Kennedy Turner - the pair originally connected at Hollyshorts FF back in 2017 then went on to co-produce the award-winning satirical comedy short WHORE: TABLE #6 the following year which was well received at festivals winning Best Satire.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT:

Inspired by Creator Helen Kennedy Turner and her husband's 7-year journey with infertility and childlessness, this story explores the humour, trauma and absurdity of IVF and infertility in a refreshingly bold, profoundly moving and realistic manner from both the male and female POV. The viewer feels fully immersed and almost "lives" this experience with these characters which we hope will lead to a deeper sense of understanding and empathy for people who may be going through this struggle. Many couples feel a sense of shame or embarrassment when talking about this so we felt it was an important issue to explore in a brave and candid style that has real warmth and heart too.
